July 4 celebrations planned in Blair, Bedford
– DelGrosso’s Park, Tipton, will host a free fireworks show Friday, July 4. The musical preshow will begin about 9 p.m., with fireworks set to go off about 10 p.m. DelGrosso’s Park and Laguna Splash will have special Fourth of July hours, with the water park open from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. and the water side food stands open until 10 p.m. Park rides and food stands will be open from noon to 11:30 p.m. All rides will be closed during the fireworks shows. Select rides and food stands will reopen after the show.
– Fourth of July celebration will be held at Fort Bedford Park, Bedford, with fireworks slated to begin at 9:40 p.m. Festival food will be available from 3 to 10 p.m. A cornhole tournament will be held, with registration at 3 p.m. and tournament play at 4 p.m. Cost is $20 a team. Entertainment includes Ghost Town Road Show from 3 to 5 p.m., Arty’s Party from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. and the Bedford Symphony from 9 to 9:40 p.m.
– Star Spangled Fourth will be held from 10 to 4 p.m. Friday, July 4, at Fort Roberdeau. Admission and parking are free for this open house party that features 18th century militia men, rangers, farmers, tinsmiths and frontier families all in period clothing.
Gates and the Acorn Shop open at 10 a.m., followed by the flag raising at 10:15 a.m. and Flee to the Fort at 10:30 a.m. The concession stand will open at 11 a.m. Major Cluggage reveals trivia is set for 11:15 a.m., followed by Women of the American Revolution at 12:15 p.m. The reading of the Declaration of Independence will be at 1:30 p.m., followed by Roberdeau recruits drilling at 1:50 p.m. and ringing of the Freedom Bell at 2 p.m. Flee to the Fort will be at 3 p.m., with part 2 of trivia at 3:30 p.m. Gates and the Acorn shop close at 4 p.m.
Fort Roberdeau is at 383 Fort Roberdeau Road, Altoona.
– Main Line Mania will be held at the Railroaders Memorial Museum, 1200 Ninth Ave., Altoona, on July 5. Gates open at 4 p.m. The event features live music from 4 to 9:30 p.m. and fireworks at dusk. Food will be available. Cost is $5 per person, $15 per car for VIP and $10 per car for general parking. Live music will be performed by The Silver Linings and PletchVello. Slingers Axe Throwing will also be on site.
