GACTC director waives preliminary hearing

Palmer charged with 10 counts of child porn

From Mirror staff reports

INDIANA — Eric Palmer waived his right to a preliminary hearing before Indiana County Magisterial District Judge Anthony Sottile III on Thursday morning.

He will be arraigned before Judge Gina R. Force on March 25, according to court documents.

Palmer, executive director of the Greater Altoona Career and Technology Center, was arrested on Nov. 11 after a search executed by Pennsylvania State Police found electronic devices containing child pornography files, according to the affidavit of probable cause.

He is charged with 10 counts of child pornography and one felony count of criminal use of a communication facility, according to the affidavit.

PSP were alerted by the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children due to a CyberTipline report submitted by Google, who detected eight files on a Google account used by Palmer, according to the affidavit.

Nicole Zernick has led the GACTC as interim director in Palmer’s absence, although Palmer is still listed as executive director on the school’s website as of Thursday afternoon.

Starting at $2.99/week.
