Teen killed in crash identified
The Altoona Area High School student killed in a Bedford County crash Sunday night has been identified as Keagahn Smith-Price, 16. Smith-Price was one of two people killed in the accident near Breezewood and the second Altoona Area High School student killed in separate crashes Sunday.
According to a GoFundMe page set up to assist the family, Smith-Price had turned 16 years old the day before the accident. He was a diehard Packers fan, loved football and had played football for Altoona Area.
Second Chance Strays Cat Rescue and Lounge posted on its Facebook page that Smith-Price had volunteered at the rescue and spent countless hours with the cats and ran the front cash register during business hours.
“Whether it was heavy trash bags full of dirty cat litter that needed taken to the dumpster, a trunk full of cat litter that needed to be brought to our litter room, or bags of cat food that needed carried elsewhere, Keagahn was there with a smile on his face ready to help,” the post reads, adding that he had a “big heart for animals.”
According to a Facebook post by the East End Youth Baseball League, Smith-Price had been a player with the league and the Burgmeier baseball team.
The school district is providing counseling and grief services to students and staff in the wake of the two students’ deaths, according to Paula Foreman, district spokeswoman.
Altoona Area senior Lundyn Treese, 17, was killed in a crash in the city early Sunday morning.
