Blair County Prison inmate faces contraband charges

Rightenour allegedly found with fentanyl

A Blair County Prison inmate is facing additional charges after a cell search led corrections officers to discover controlled substances on their person.

Cassidy Marie Rightenour, 25, was arraigned June 25 by Magisterial District Judge Paula M. Aigner on one felony count each of possession of a controlled substance by an inmate and possession of a controlled substance. She remains in custody at the Blair County Prison in lieu of $75,000 bail.

Prison staff requested a Hollidaysburg officer be dispatched to their location for a suspected controlled substance on March 30, according to the affidavit of probable cause.

A corrections officer told police a cell search was being conducted when Rightenour was asked to remove her socks. While doing so, the corrections officer noticed Rightenour ball her hand into a fist. The corrections officer then told Rightenour to give him what she had, but Rightenour tried to shove them into her waistband, the police report stated.

Two corrections officers retrieved the items from Rightenour. The corrections officer said there was a small clear zip-top bag and two pink folded-up sugar packets that all contained a white powdery substance. When asked what the substance was, Rightenour said “seroquel and benzos,” the report states.

The responding officer brought the evidence back to the Hollidaysburg police station before sending it for lab analysis. On June 5, the officer received the lab results, which stated the white substance was fentanyl, according to the affidavit.

Rightenour is scheduled for a preliminary hearing in front of Aigner on July 29.

Starting at $3.83/week.
