Hollidaysburg Council hires new borough manager

Imhoff to resign from Johnstown position

HOLLIDAYSBURG — Johnstown City Manager Ethan Imhoff will resign from that position in June to start as Hollidaysburg’s borough manager after the borough council approved his hiring during its meeting Thursday evening.

Imhoff’s contract was also approved, with his annual salary set at $120,000. He will be filling the position that was left vacant by the resignation of James Gehret in December 2023.

Board Secretary Patricia Duron has been acting as interim borough manager since February.

A Hollidaysburg resident, Imhoff had worked as an office assistant with the borough from 2004-2011, Duron said.

According to the Tribune-Democrat, Imhoff has worked as Johnstown’s city manager since January 2022 and was the Cambria County Planning Commission’s executive director before that.

Imhoff’s LinkedIn page shows that he received an Award for Plans from the Pennsylvania Chapter of the American Planning Association for his Alleghenies Ahead/Cambria County Comprehensive Plan in October 2018.

The Tribune-Democrat said Johnstown’s City Council approved an agreement three months ago to retain Imhoff as city manager through the first Monday of January 2026 with an annual salary of $137,500.

According to the Tribune Democrat, Imhoff said he wasn’t looking for a new job, but Hollidaysburg Borough officials reached out to him after Gehret resigned.

“With Hollidaysburg making an offer, it was too hard to resist,” he said. “There are no other jobs I’d have left Johnstown for.”
