A Williamsburg man died from injuries suffered in a motorcycle crash Sunday morning.

The Blair County Coroner’s Office was called to UPMC Altoona at 11:37 a.m. Sunday for a death investigation.

According to a news release, it was determined that Daniel Stevens, 40, died from blunt force traumatic injuries suffered while riding a motorcycle in an earlier motorcycle vs. vehicle crash. The crash occurred at Osgood Drive and Sophira Lane, Altoona, the report stated.

Houtzdale inmate dies in cell

An inmate serving time at the State Correctional Institution Houtzdale was found unresponsive in his cell over the weekend.

Despite life-saving measures, Justin Johnson, 35, was pronounced dead at 8:04 p.m. Saturday, according to David Close, superintendent at SCI-Houtzdale.

In a news release, Close said prison staff immediately responded and provided life-saving measures until emergency medical personnel arrived.

Johnson was serving a 5- to 10-year sentence for burglary on a Clearfield County conviction. He had been at SCI Houtzdale since June 14, 2022.

In accordance with state policy, the Pennsylvania State Police were notified and will conduct an investigation. The official cause of death will be determined by the Clearfield County Coroner’s Office.
