Man charged with child assault

From Mirror staff reports

A Tyrone man accused of indecent assault of a child is behind bars, unable to post $75,000 cash bail.

Eric Arthur Morrissey, 38, was arraigned Monday before Magisterial District Judge Fred B. Miller on felony charges of aggravated indecent assault of a person less than 13 years old and corruption of minors-defendant age 18 or older, along with misdemeanor charges of indecent assault of a person less than 13 and three misdemeanor charges of corruption of minors.

According to the affidavit of probable cause, a woman brought her juvenile daughter to the Hollidaysburg state police barracks on Feb. 3, 2022, when the victim made allegations of sexual assault and disturbing behavior made against her by Morrissey.

The victim said that in 2021 at a home on the 160 block of Igou Road, Antis Township, Morrissey offered her and a juvenile male an alcoholic beverage and inappropriately touched her breasts and genitals while allegedly looking for ticks.

The victim said that in an unknown month of 2021, she had been outside playing in the woods and when she returned inside, Morrissey had her stand nude in front of him while he looked for ticks, using the flashlight on his cellphone. He also had her lay on the bed and then used his fingers to allegedly check her private areas for ticks, the victim told police.

In October 2021, he asked for photos of her body via Snapchat, and in November of that year, he allegedly offered her and the male victim an alcoholic beverage and then offered to have the victim practice kissing with him. When she declined, Morrissey picked her up and held her against him, despite her struggling to get away, she told police.

In another incident, the victim said Morrissey asked her to sleep with him in his bed, where he took photos of her, court documents state.

During an interview with police, Morrissey claimed the beverage was non-alcoholic.

Unable to post $75,000 bail, he was remanded to the Blair County Prison. Morrissey’s preliminary hearing is set for March 21 before Miller.

Starting at $3.83/week.
