Carpenters Training Center to build addition
Addition will provide more office space and a new parking lot and landscaping and stormwater detention facilities
DUNCANSVILLE — Plans for an addition to the Carpenters Training Center building received a positive review Thursday from Blair County Planning Commission members.
Plans call for construction of a 6,500-square-foot addition to the existing Keystone Mountain Lakes Regional Council of Carpenters facility on Patchway Drive.
The proposed addition will provide more office space. A new parking lot, landscaping and stormwater detention facilities will be provided as part of the plan, said Jamie L. Klink, community planner.
Proposed parking at the site will be 70 spaces, which includes four handicap spaces.
The proposed amount of parking will be greater than the 52 spaces required by Blair Township, Klink said.
Sidewalks will be constructed within the site along the exterior of the building addition, but no sidewalks will be constructed along Patchway Road or Broad Street (Route 22).
“We will defer to Blair Township’s decision on whether sidewalks should be required in this area,” Klink said.
“We recommend that the developer consults with PennDOT and Blair Township in order to address any potential negative impacts on the local transportation system as a result of this proposal,” Klink said.
