Van Zandt VA Medical Center hosts Overdose Awareness Day

The Van Zandt VA Medical Center will hold a special ceremony to honor Overdose Awareness Day at 1 p.m. Monday, Aug. 31. The event will take place outside the mental health building (Building 32) at the main medical center, 2907 Pleasant Valley Blvd., Altoona. The ceremony aims to honor those who have lost their lives to overdose and to raise awareness about overdose prevention and the use of naloxone. Members of the Logan Township Supervisors board mourned one of their own during their Thursday meeting. Member Patrick T. Jones died from an accident on his farm about 3:15 p.m. Thursday afternoon, chairman James Patterson said while holding back tears.
