Cambria County coroner called to incident at Prince Gallitzin State Park

Emergency personnel responded to Prince Gallitzin State Park Tuesday evening for reports of an obvious death. According to Cambria County emergency radio activity, about 6:51 p.m., a caller reported witnessing a body in water in the Pickerel Pond Children’s Play Area at the park. The age of the deceased was not given. WJAC confirmed that the Cambria County coroner had been called to the scene. No other information was available at the time of publication.

Superior Court denies DuBois man’s appeal

A DuBois man, Joseph George Sabatose, who has been on a roller coaster ride through the court system for the past decade, has lost his latest appeal to Pennsylvania Superior Court in which he claimed he was denied credit for time served in prison involving two criminal cases filed in Clearfield County. Sabatose, 61, was charged in 2016 with criminal trespass that occurred on Dec. 20, 2015, and was initially sentenced by Judge Paul E. Cherry to a term of 90 days to one year in prison.
