The Railroaders Memorial Museum will host its fifth guest speaker for the Along the Broadway: Historical Lecture Series at 7 p.m. Friday, June 5, in the Seidel Auditorium at the Museum. Fans of the English novelist Jane Austen as well as those who teach her works are invited to the Jane Austen Summer Program (JASP), which will be held at Seton Hill University in historic Greensburg from June 11-14. The 2026 Jane Austen Summer Program, titled “Pride, Prejudice, and the Pursuit of Happiness,” will mark the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence through a four-day public humanities program exploring the Enlightenment roots of American democracy and the transatlantic exchange of political ideas. The Southern Alleghenies Museum of Art at Bedford’s Summer Painting Workshops series begins with “Learn the Magic of Palette Knife Painting” with artist Meaghan Troup from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Saturday, June 6, in the historic Anderson House at 137 E. Pitt St., Bedford. This workshop invites participants to paint a vibrant summer landscape using oils and palette knives while learning techniques to build texture, layer color, and create movement. The Southern Alleghenies Museum of Art at Bedford is excited to welcome young artists this summer for five days of hands-on creativity, imagination and artistic exploration led by teaching artist Emily Russell. Designed for children and teens who love to create, SAMA’s summer camps encourage students to experiment with new materials, techniques, and ideas while having fun in an inspiring museum setting. The camp will run from Monday, June 22, through Friday, June 26, at the Southern Alleghenies Museum of Art located at the historic Anderson House at 137 E. Pitt St., Bedford. The first camp for children aged six to nine will run from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. each day and the second camp for students 10 to 14 will run from 1 to 4 p.m. daily. The cost is $125 per child.
