Swinging Squares plan April dances

The Swinging Squares Square and Round Dance Club has announced its April dances.

All dances are held at the Jaggard Street United Methodist Church in Altoona on Thursday evenings.

Prerounds are from 6 to 6:30 p.m., and class instruction is from 6:30 to 9 p.m.

April 9 — Regular club dance.

April 16 — National Pajama Day Dance (Wear your favorite pajamas.).

April 23 — Regular club dance.

April 30 — Pie Night.

School retirees to meet in Duncansville

The Blair County Pennsylvania School Retirees will meet at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, April 7, at Marzoni’s in Duncansville. New members are encouraged to attend.

Society to hold history banquet April 18

The Bedford County Historical Society will hold its annual History Banquet at 6 p.m. Saturday, April 18, at the Hall at Kinton’s Knob (BCHS, second floor), 6441 Lincoln Highway, Bedford.

The society will honor Krista Cessna Fleszar of Hummelstown as the 2025 BCHS Historian of the Year. She published “A Dent in Time: Our Cessna, James and Schaffer Story 1854-1947” about the family of John Thomas Cessna of Rainsburg.

The featured speaker will be Jodi Stouffer of Martinsburg. She will speak on “The Martinsburg Indian Training School.”

Tickets are $35 per person. Reservation are due by Tuesday, April 14.

Krazy Kat Daddies to perform April 11

The Alum Bank Community Volunteer Fire Company Auxiliary will host the Krazy Kat Daddies from 6:30 to

10 p.m. Saturday, April 11, at the firehall.

Admission is $5 per person. The kitchen will open

at 5 p.m. It is a smoke- and alcohol-free atmosphere.

Playhouse sets auditions for ‘Muffed’

The Playhouse at McConnellstown will hold auditions for its season-opener, “Muffed,” from 2 to 4 p.m. April 11 and April 12 at its building at 11680 Raystown Road in McConnellstown. Walk-in auditions are welcome

Performances will be at 7:30 p.m. June 12, 13, 19, 20, and 26 with Sunday matinees at 2 p.m. June 14 and

June 21.

This production will be directed by Meg Whitesel. Casting requires eight thespians of any gender, race and ethnicity, ages 17 and older.
