50 years ago: Conrail was to officially take over Penn Central and six other bankrupt railroads at one minute after midnight on April 1. Penn Central was a combination of the bankrupt Pennsylvania Railroad and New York Central Railroad.
25 years ago: The C-COR plant in the Ardie J. Dillen Business Park in Tipton, David Woodle CEO, which made coaxial cable and fiber optics products, announced its closing with the loss of 490 jobs. Woodle said Mexico could fill remaining orders.
10 years ago: The Bennetti Tree Service Inc. was removing trees from the Highland Hall property in Hollidaysburg prior to S&A Homes starting renovations that would become 53 senior housing units.
