Ella “Til” Black will celebrate her 99th birthday on Tuesday.

She was born Jan. 6, 1927, in Broad Top. She married William Black, and together they built a home in Foot of Ten, where Til has resided for 66 years.

A proud mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Ella is cherished for her loving spirit and beautiful smile.

She was employed at David Weis and later became a hairdresser, eventually owning her own salon.

A devoted member of Hicks Memorial United Methodist Church, Ella remains active in her community.

Known for her independence, Ella still enjoys running errands, having her hair done and getting around on her own. Her joyful heart and warm presence continue to inspire all who know her.
