Free fly tying program to begin Jan. 3
The John Kennedy Chapter of Trout Unlimited is offering a free, eight-week beginners fly tying program, starting on Saturday, Jan. 3, from 9 a.m. to noon, and continuing every Saturday through Feb. 21.
The classes will be held at the Allegheny Volunteer Fire Department located at 651 Sugar Run Rd, Altoona.
The chapter will provide the tools and all materials.
The class size is limited to the first 25 to register.

Ballroom dance Jan. 11 in Bellefonte
Centre Ballroom will have a dance from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 11, at Lambert Hall, Bellefonte.
Cost is $10 per person and we ask that you bring a snack to share.
Swinging Squares plan January dances
The Swinging Squares Square and Round Dance Club has announced its January schedule.
All dances are held at the Jaggard Street United Methodist Church in Altoona on Thursday evenings unless otherwise indicated.
Prerounds are from 6 to 6:30 p.m. Class lessons are from 6:30 to 8 p.m., and the club dance is from 8 to 9 p.m.
The January schedule follows:
Jan. 1 -- No dance.
Jan. 8 -- Snowflake Ball. (Wear white and bring white snacks).
Jan. 15 -- Regular club dance.
Jan. 22 -- Stoup Night. (Bring your favorite stew or soup to share). Starts at 5:30 p.m.
Jan. 29 -- Regular club dance.
