Becky Sheetz Memorial Golf Tournament set for Aug. 7

The Altoona Sunrise Rotary Club will celebrate its 30th Annual Becky Sheetz Memorial Golf Tournament on Thursday, Aug. 7, at Park Hills Country Club.

Proceeds from the tournament will benefit the Special Olympics of Blair County, The Arc of Blair County and the Rotary Club of Altoona Sunrise Foundation.

Becky Sheetz was a strong advocate for people with disabilities until her untimely death from breast cancer at the age of 38. The Becky Sheetz Recreation Center was named in her honor and now houses The Arc of Blair County and serves individuals with developmental disabilities.

Special Olympics provides training and athletic competition in a variety of sports for children and adults with disabilities while the mission of The Arc is to enhance the quality of life for children and adults and their families through education, advocacy, support and socialization.

The Rotary Club of Altoona Sunrise Foundation provides services and support to local and international communities.

Registration for this year’s tournament is $100 per golfer, which includes golf and lunch. Golfers have the option of teeing off at 8 a.m. or 1:30 p.m. For information on how to participate, contact Susanna Tomlinson at 814-414-1151.

A variety of awards will be up for grabs, and golfers have the chance to win some great prizes.

The 30th annual Becky Sheetz Memorial Golf Tournament is being sponsored by many area businesses.
