Softball Marathon invites players
The We CARE Foundation (formerly Easter Seals) will hold its annual We CARE Foundation Softball Marathon on Aug. 2 at Legion Park in Hollidaysburg.
Organizers are welcoming teams to join in the co-ed games that are three hours long and are non-competitive. The goal is to raise money for the kids.

All of the funds go to support the services provided to special needs children in Central Pennsylvania. The funds are used for scholarships to help families pay for therapy and for the maintenance of the We CARE Building at 501 Valley View Blvd. in Altoona.
Patton Garden Club sets plant sale
PATTON — The Patton Garden Club’s annual plant sale will be held from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, June 7, at the Fix-It Shop on Fifth and Park Avenues in Patton.
There will be annuals, perennials, house plants and vegetable plants. Proceeds benefit the Patton Garden Club Scholarship Fund. For more information, visit www.facebook.com/PattonGardenClub.
Railway employees to meet June 4
DUNCANSVILLE — The National Association of Retired and Veteran Railway Employees will meet at 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 4, at Prime Sirloin Buffet.
NARVRE is the only chartered national organization whose sole purpose is to protect pension rights.
All retired, veteran and present railway employees (and their spouses) are invited to attend the meeting of NARVRE Unit #173, Altoona. Members and nonmembers are welcome.

School retirees to meet June 3
The Blair County Chapter of the Pennsylvania Association of School Retirees (PASR) meets at 11:30 a.m. on the first Tuesday of every month. The group welcomes new members who have been employed by local school districts or Intermediate Units and are now retired.
The June 3rd meeting will be held at Marzoni’s in Duncansville. It is a self-pay lunch. The non-profit for which we will be collecting donations is the Central Pennsylvania Humane Society. Requested items are cat or dog food, litter, trash bags, or cash.
AFSCME Retirees 8306 to meet June 4
DUNCANSVILLE — AFSCME Retirees sub chapter 8306 will meet on Wednesday, June 4, 2025, at the Patchway Road Union Hall. The board will meet at 12:30 p.m.
There will be a guest speaker. Please bring any personal products such as toothbrushes, toothpaste, toilet paper, etc., for the group’s upcoming project.
Elections will be held in July.
Ballroom dance to be held June 8
Centre Ballroom Dance will hold a ballroom dance from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday, June 8, at Lambert Hall, Bellefonte.
The dance will start with a Bachata dance lesson from 2 to 2:30 p.m.
The cost is $10 per person, and everyone is encouraged to take a snack to share.
Swinging Squares plan dances in June
The Swinging Squares Square and Round Dance Club has announced its June schedule.
All dances and events are held at the Jaggard Street United Methodist Church in Altoona on Thursdays, unless otherwise indicated.
Prerounds are from 6 to 6:30 p.m., class lessons are from 6:30 to 8 p.m. and the club dance is from 8 to 9 p.m.
June 5 — Regular club dance.
June 12 — Graduation.
June 19 — Regular club dance.
June 26 — Club picnic

Choral Institute taking registrations
HOLLIDAYSBURG — Registration is now open for Choral Institute 2025 offered by the Academy of Sacred Music.
Academy founder and Hollidaysburg native Robert Long will lead singers who are interested in developing their skills in the art of choral singing. Participants will learn techniques including breathing, posture, pronunciation, phrasing and dynamics through a challenging, yet rewarding, repertoire.
Long will explore choral selections by Mozart, Clausen, John Michael Talbot, Becker and Terry.
The choral intensive workshop consists of two evening skill development sessions on Wednesday, June 25, and Thursday, June 26, followed by a public performance on Friday, June 27.
All sessions will take place at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 344 Baynton Ave., Lakemont.
Registration of $25 for Choral Institute participants may be submitted by Thursday, June 19.
The public is invited to attend the Choral Institute Concert at 7 p.m. Friday, June 27, in St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, Altoona. A free-will offering will be taken up to support the Academy’s mission.

ROARING SPRING — Conemaugh Nason Medical Center is offering car seat safety checks conducted by a Certified Passenger Safety Technician.
Appointments begin in June and can be scheduled by calling 814-224-6230. Space is limited, so early scheduling is encouraged.
