50 years ago: The historic Levan House on 12th Avenue was being demolished by the Penn-Ohio Demolition Co. after efforts to preserve it fell through. It was built in 1880 and a journal was all that was found in its cornerstone with people who had donated as little as 18 cents listed for the cornerstone.
25 years ago: Bryce Saylor & Son was moving a new 17,000-pound Magnetic Resonance Imager (MRI) into the radiology department at Altoona Hospital. It was to become functional May 1.
