Singing groups to resume rehearsals

Two local acappella singing groups will resume rehearsals this week.

Altoona Horseshoe Chorus

The Altoona Horseshoe Acappella Chorus will reconvene at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 4, at the Arts Altoona Building (old Simpson Methodist Church) at Sixth Avenue and 22nd Street.

This all-male, four-part harmony, acappella chorus will start practice for their annual show which will take place on April 2.

The Altoona Chorus is an award-winning chorus of women who sing four-part acapella music. They have been entertaining in the Blair County area at community events, retirement homes, hospitals and ball games for 68 years. Sweet Adelines International has choruses around the world and promotes education and musical opportunities for women.

Entrance to rehearsals is in the Arts Altoona Sanctuary. Please park and enter at the rear of the building. Use the wooden door for access to the rehearsal.

Sweet Adelines

The Altoona Chorus of Sweet Adelines International will hold open rehearsals for the month of January.

The chorus will welcome guests who love to sing from 7 to 8 p.m. Tuesdays beginning Jan. 4 to their rehearsal hall at 1801 Pleasant Valley Boulevard, in the Education Building of the Jaggard Street United Methodist Church.

Guests will have an opportunity to learn a song with the chorus or just observe the rehearsal if they choose. One-time proof of vaccination is required.
