Morrisons Cove Rotary installs officers
ROARING SPRING — The Morrisons Cove Rotary Club installed Betsy A. Baker, superintendent of schools for the Spring Cove School District, as its new club president on June 29.
Baker will serve in this capacity through June 2022. She joined the club in 2016 and has been highly active with all of the club’s activities and programs.
“The Morrisons Cove Rotary Club has a long history of serving the Morrisons Cove community, supporting community projects and assisting with the development of our youth. Even through the pandemic, the club has found creative ways to continue to meet and to serve,” Baker said.
“I am hoping to begin returning the club to ‘normal’ operations as the impact of the pandemic declines and to expand our membership to further serve our community.”
Joining Baker as Morrisons Cove Rotary Club officers for the 2021-22 fiscal year are: Seth Davis as vice president, John R. Biddle as secretary, Shanna L. Stern as treasurer, and Charles W. Gojmerax as immediate past president.
The Morrisons Cove Rotary Club meets at 7:15 a.m. Tuesdays.

Allegheny Chorale to begin season
After a long break from singing and presenting concerts to the Tyrone and Altoona communities, the Allegheny Chorale will be swinging back into action in September.
The Allegheny Chorale currently has more than 60 singing members and is under the direction of Deborah Estright. The president of the board of directors is Janet Pearson.
The board met recently and unanimously voted to begin the 2021-22 season starting with rehearsals in
September.
The chorale also made the decision to change the location of the weekly practice sessions. Beginning at 7 p.m. Sept. 14, the chorale will practice at the Grace Baptist Church at 2308 Adams Ave., Tyrone.
Previously, the practice sessions were held at Tyrone Area High School; however, the chorale has exceeded the seating area of the music room.
Anyone wishing to join the chorale is welcome to join during the first three weeks of the practice season.
The chorale has scheduled two concerts for the Christmas holiday season — Dec. 5 at St. James Lutheran Church in Altoona and Dec. 7 at Presbyterian Church in Tyrone. A spring concert is scheduled for both venues in April.
