Cancer society plans Color Fun Run
The American Cancer Society will hold its “Color My World Cancer-Free Color Fun Run” on Sept. 17 in downtown Altoona, starting on 12th Avenue near the post office.
The event is a family-friendly 5K run/walk that benefits the American Cancer Society and Relay For Life.
This fun run is an untimed race that is all about having fun and less about how quickly you can finish.
As runners/walkers maneuver through the course, they will encounter different color stations that represent a different cancer and incorporate cancer awareness.
Runners will be doused in a different color (made of edible corn starch) at each station and end the race covered in a vivid combination of color.
This family friendly party will begin and end with music, dancing and lots of fun.
There will also be a color fun run store onsite for purchasing accessories for the run.
Preregistration is $30 (plus processing fees). This price is good through Sunday.
Beginning Monday and through the morning of the fun run, registration will be $35. Children ages 6 to 12 can preregister for $20 (plus processing fees). Children 5 and under are free with a paid adult, but non-registered children will not receive a race packet. Race packets will include a Color Fun Run T-shirt.
All proceeds will benefit local Relay For Life events. Be sure to include your Relay For Life event and/or your Relay For Life team during the registration process. Your event and/or team will receive credit for a portion of your registration fees.
Race-day registration opens at 9 a.m., and the race begins at 10 a.m.
Runners/walkers who preregister can pick up their race packets between 9 a.m. and 6 p.m. Sept. 16 at the American Cancer Society Office, 1004 N. Juniata St., Hollidaysburg.
