Food Truck Festival, Highway to Rock, Spring Blues & Brews This Weekend!

Here is a listing of area live music and online music happenings for the weekend and week of Friday, May 20 through Thursday, May 26.

The outdoor live music activity continues to pick up steam, as more outdoor events populate this week’s show listings.

Among the events is the inaugural “Summer Lovin’ Food Truck Festival,” taking place on Sunday in the parking lot of the Pleasant Valley Recreation Center (4D’s Lounge). The event kicks off at 1 p.m., and will feature – obviously – food trucks from such businesses as Belly Busters, Shuman’s Concessions, Katie J’s, Pierogi Guy, Matty’s Subs, B&T Meats, Roots Kitchen & Juicery and Claysburg Pizza. There will also be a beer garden, plus family fun events such as kid and adult food-eating contests, face painting and prizes. And live music will be a part of the event, with former NBC “The Voice” Season 16 contestant Jimmy Mowery entertaining at 5 p.m. Admission is free. The Food Truck Festival will take place every 2nd and 4th Sunday of the month during the summer season.

The Huntingdon County Chamber of Commerce and other sponsors will present the “Highway to Rock” concert on Saturday afternoon and evening near Lincoln Caverns. Local favorites Backlash will kick off the music at 4 p.m., followed by AC/DC tribute group Live Wire at 6:30 p.m. Food and alcohol vendors will be available. Presale tickets can be obtained for $10; admission at the gate will be $20 per person.

And Asbury Lane and The Boomers will provide the musical entertainment during the 9th annual “We CARE Blues and Brews” event, taking place Saturday afternoon at the C2 Trolley House pavilion at Altoona’s Lakemont Park. Proceeds from this beer-tasting event will benefit the special needs children’s programs at the We CARE Foundation building (formerly Easter Seals). The event runs from 3 to 7 p.m.

See the listings below for information about these and the many other live music events taking place around the area during the next seven days, and continue to SUPPORT LIVE MUSIC!
