Ukulele Soiree, Maple Festival and Cinco de Mayo Happenings!

Here is a listing of area live music and online music happenings for the weekend and week of Friday, April 30 through Thursday, May 6.

With the recent easing of some COVID-19-related restrictions, more live music venues across the area are beginning to host some performances. The listing below includes both area live public shows and online live-streaming shows; keep checking back, as this listing will be updated as new shows are announced.

If you are attending a public show, be aware that seating and admission may be limited due to remaining COVID-19 restrictions, and masks and social distancing may be required. Please be responsible, and respect others’ personal space if they wish to socially distance from other people.

For online performances, if a “virtual tip jar” situation is available during live streams, please consider tipping these performers, and support them during this time when they cannot earn income playing shows at public venues. Websites for these performers are also listed; please consider purchasing their music digitally or via CD, which is another way to SUPPORT LIVE MUSIC!

Live stages throughout the region are increasingly busy with activities this weekend and upcoming week. Among the activities are several Cinco de Mayo-themed events, and even a few Kentucky Derby-themed live musical events on Saturday. See the listings below for details.

This weekend also marks the second and final weekend for the annual Pennsylvania Maple Festival in Meyersdale. Live music happens at the Festival Park stage both Saturday and Sunday.

And online, the Allegheny Ukulele Kollective presents their annual Ukulele Soiree event in virtual form on Saturday. The event will feature ukulele skill seminars, taught by established names in the ukulele world such as Aldrine Guerrero, Daniel Ward, Heidi Swedberg, Neal Chin, The Naked Waiters and others. There will also be online ukulele jam sessions and live performances. Admission is free. See the listing below for the website link to visit the event.
