Illinois player joins PSU

UNIVERSITY PARK — The Penn State women’s basketball team signed Illinois transfer Jayla Oden, Lady Lions coach Carolyn Kieger announced Tuesday. Oden spent the last two seasons with the Fighting Illini and has two years of eligibility left. At Illinois, Oden played in 50 games and started 18 for the Fighting Illini. She averaged 5.2 points per game and made 19 3-pointers in her two seasons. Oden accumulated 11 double-digit scoring performances over the two seasons and started 13 games during her sophomore season. She averaged 4.5 points in 16.2 minutes per game.

Penn State wrestling benefits from portal this offseason

The two main objectives of the offseason for Penn State wrestling were to find replacements for Roman Bravo-Young at 133 pounds and Max Dean at 197 pounds. Penn State seemingly filled the 197-pound spot last week when three-time All-American Bernie Truax out of Cal Poly committed to Penn State. Now, Penn State has served the other objective. The Associated Press SANTA CLARA, Calif. — After having to wait a day to make their first pick in the NFL draft, the San Francisco 49ers traded up and selected safety Ji’Ayir Brown from Penn State with the 87th overall selection Friday night. Brown, who was the defensive MVP of the Rose Bowl, doesn’t fill an immediate need for the Niners but he gives them flexibility in the secondary with his versatility and ability to play nickel corner. From Mirror reports A day after getting North Carolina’s Puff Johnson from the transfer portal, the Penn State men’s basketball team landed one-time Georgetown and Maryland center Qudus Wahab on Thursday. The transfer was reported by Lions 247. Wahab, listed at 6-foot-11, 245 pounds, has one year of eligibility left. He averaged 9.6 points and 7.1 rebounds in 23.4 minutes per game in 29 appearances (25 starts) for the Hoyas. PSU tight end charged with 2 misdemeanors

From Mirror reports UNIVERSITY PARK -- Penn State tight end Theo Johnson has been charged with two misdemeanors in connection with a Feb. 11 incident at a State College fraternity. According to the Centre Daily Times, Johnson was charged Wednesday with simple assault and criminal mischief, both misdemeanors, for punching a man in the face after being asked to leave the frat party because he didn’t have a wristband.
