Wetlands degradation the fault of DEP

The DEP is to blame for the recent degradation of Old Crow Wetlands near Huntingdon. For six years, members of the Coalition to Save Old Crow Wetlands testified repeatedly at innumerable public meetings regarding the harm that an adjacent development would cause to Old Crow Wetlands. Nevertheless, the DEP approved the developer’s plans, including an erosion and sedimentation plan. Misplaced priorities in opioid crisis funding

Blair County recently approved spending $92,300 to train 142 law enforcement officers for opioid-related emergencies — paying some officers overtime to do a job they swore an oath to perform. Meanwhile, individuals entering the SUD (substance use disorder) counseling field often pay out-of-pocket for their education and training. Hoping rail merger benefits Altoona

Union Pacific and Norfolk Southern announced an $85B merger. Pending all approvals, the deal is expected to close in early 2027. The big question is what does that mean to the Altoona, Enola and Conway rail yards and the Juniata repair shops? I seem to recall much anxiousness when Norfolk Southern bought Conrail. In Texas, a mid-census Gerrymander is set to take place to provide up to 5 additional Republican seats in the U.S. House.
