John Dean Laird

John Dean Laird, 90, Kutztown, formerly of Allemans, died Friday. He was born in Bellwood, son of the late Wilbur and Ada (Bousum) Laird. On July 22, 1961, he married Frances C. Hanna, who preceded him in death on Feb. 21, 2022. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Beverly. Surviving are his three children: Ken, Sonalee and Jenelle; and several grandchildren. Friends will be received from 11 until the noon funeral service Saturday, Dec. 20, 2025, at Allemansville United Methodist Church. Burial will follow in the Allemansville Oak Grove Cemetery.

James Robert Shelow Sr., 74, of Carlisle, died peacefully on Dec. 7, 2025, at his residence. Born in Altoona, he was the son of the late Herbert and Shirley (Myers) Shelow. James was a graduate of Altoona Area High School, Class of 1969. He was active in the high school band and the Tyrone Drum & Bugle Corps.
