Michael Francis Moschella Jr., 83, of Bear, Del., passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, surrounded by loved ones. Born and raised in Altoona, Michael was a proud husband, father, grandfather (aka Pap) and United States Navy veteran.
He married the love of his life, Melody Moschella, in 1972, building a life and family filled with love, memories and countless stories.
Michael proudly served more than 20 years in the United States Navy as a Seabee. His military service was an accomplishment he carried with great pride throughout his life.
Outside of work and family, Michael enjoyed stock car racing and was a devoted fan of Philadelphia sports. He also had a particular love for McCormick Steak Salt -- a small but unforgettable detail that perfectly captured one of the many things that made Michael uniquely himself. He shared a special love for his pets: Murphy, Scooter and Cooper, who brought him great companionship and joy throughout his life.
He is survived by his wife, Melody; his children, Michael Moschella and Kelly Moschella; and his grandchildren: Alexis Moschella, Gianna Moschella, Kayla Siminski, Michael Siminski, Christopher Horten and Jenna Cappello.
He was preceded in death by his beloved daughter, Michelle Moschella Cappello; his father, Michael Francis Moschella Sr.; and his sisters: Donna Harding, Peenie Morgan and Doll Barr.
Michael leaves behind a legacy of love, family, service and memories that will remain with all who had the privilege of knowing him. He will be deeply missed, forever remembered and always loved.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Aug. 31, 2026, at Strano & Feeley Funeral Home, 635 Churchmans Road, Newark, Del.
