Edna M. ‘Peggy’ Thompson

Edna M. "Peggy" Thompson, 88, of Altoona, passed away peacefully Monday, Nov. 22, 2021, at Embassy of Hearthside, State College. She was born in East Freedom, daughter of the late Sheldon and Gertrude (Weyandt) Benton. On March 31, 1956, she married Carl R. Thompson Jr., who preceded her in death in 2003.

She is survived by her five children: Tina M. Hyduke and husband, Robert, Gregory D., M. Jayne Burke and husband, Michael, Carl R. III and John Charles "Chuck" and wife, Suzanne; five grandchildren: Kaitlin, Kayley, Carl IV, Michaela and Molly; and a sister, Nancy Clinich.

She was preceded in death by four siblings.

Peggy worked as a seamstress at various places and also volunteered at St. Vincent De Paul, and was an amazing cook.

Peggy was loved by her children, adored by her grandchildren, and filled this world with hard work and stories from simpler times "out in the country."

Friends will be received from 4 to 6 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 2, 2021, at Mauk & Yates Funeral Home Inc., 710 N. Fourth Ave., Juniata.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Miracle League of Blair County or The ARC of Blair County.
