HYDE -- The Clearfield football team overcame two turnovers, a blocked punt and recovered bad snap in the end zone to defeat visiting Huntingdon, 28-16, Friday evening at the Bison Sports Complex.
Play of the game: Clearfield's Nick Domico scooped up a Bearcat fumble and raced 46 yards for a touchdown with 6:15 remaining in the game to increase the Bison lead from 21-16 to 28-16.
Player of the game: Clearfield's Jake Lezzer caught eight passes for 104 yards. Seven of his catches went for first downs. He also intercepted a pass in the end zone one play after Huntingdon's Andrew Miller returned a pick 55 yards to the Clearfield 19.
Unsung hero: Bison running back Brett Zattoni, who was cleared to return to light action after an injury, led Clearfield with 59 yards rushing on just seven carries.
Most vital statistic: Huntingdon started three drives inside the Bison 30-yard line, but came away with points only once.
Huntingdon head coach Shane Thomas: "If we take care of the football, it's right there at the end. Plus we missed a field goal and had a touchdown called back. We had our opportunities. If you go back and take away a few of those things, we probably come out on top."
Clearfield coach Tim Janocko: "We were sloppy in different areas, but Huntingdon played a lot better than they have been playing too. You have a team backed up like that with nothing to lose and they came out and played hard. So credit to them. But credit to our kids too. Our kids didn't play as well as they've been playing. It happens. But we still came out with the win."
Notable: Huntingdon quarterback Nick Troha led the Bearcats on the ground with 62 yards on 16 carries, but he was limited to just 28 yards passing.
