Central gets big shutout

TYRONE — Dylan Claycomb went the distance for Central in a complete-game 7-0 shutout of Tyrone in high school softball action Wednesday afternoon.

Claycomb and Ashley Negley were both 2-for-4, with Negley driving in three runs for Central while Claycomb drove in two as the Lady Dragons improved to 14-6. Tyrone fell to 13-7.

Bailey Heuston and Alana Padula each scored twice for Central, which put the game away with four runs in the seventh.

WINDBER — Emily Claar was 3-for-3 and scored the first of two runs in the third inning for Claysburg-Kimmel in a win over Windber.

Harleigh Cavender scored the other run for the Lady Bulldogs, who improved to 16-4.

Olivia Bushore got the win with three innings of work and four strikeouts.

MORRISDALE — Haley Schmidt was 3-for-3 with two home runs and three RBIs, but the Lady Devils came up on the short end against Inter-County Conference opponent West Branch.

Schmidt also pitched six innings for Bellwood-Antis, which scored twice in the top of the seventh to make it interesting. She finished with five strikeouts.

Ruthie Betts was 2-for-3 with two RBIs and a run scored for the Lady Warriors.
