Gutshall welcomed into HOF
LOCK HAVEN – Bob “Geech” Gutshall was one of 12 people inducted into the fourth class of the Lock Haven University football Hall of Fame Saturday night.
Gutshall was an outstanding back at Altoona in the 1957-60 era, earning a full ride to Pitt. He had been an All-American and all-state halfback at Altoona, and also played in the Big 33 game.
Unfortunately, because of health concerns, he subsequently transferred to Lock Haven State College.
It was there he became a jack of all trades for Coach Herb Jack. He was a tailback, who not only ran hard and often, but also passed and punted. He also returned punts and kick-offs. He was once selected to the small college All-Star “GEM” game for his effots. Gutshall moved to coaching where he was active in that for 30 years.
