Russell D. Holzer, 75, Altoona, passed away unexpectedly Sunday at UPMC Altoona.
He was born in Altoona, son of the late Anna Marie Holzer. On Aug. 24, 1980, he married Susan L. Sevel.
Surviving are his wife; two sons: Michael (Heather) Holzer and Daniel (Elyse) Holzer, all of Altoona; and three grandchildren: Ari, Ethan and Maddox.
Russ was a graduate of Bishop Guilfoyle High School and Penn State University and a U.S. Navy veteran of the Vietnam War. He retired from the Pennsylvania Department of Corrections as a counselor.
Russ was a member of Temple Beth Israel.
He enjoyed gardening, leather craft, stained glass, woodworking, reading, traveling and photography, and was a member of the ASA 80's Photography Club.
Friends will be received from 10 to noon Wednesday, July 17, 2019, at E. Merrill Smith Funeral Home Inc., 2309 Broad Ave., Altoona, where a funeral service will follow at noon, Rabbi Audrey Korotkin officiating. Interment will be at Mount Sinai Cemetery.
