Zvi Herbert Goldschmidt, M.D., 84, Hollidaysburg, died Friday at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, Md.
He was born in Chernowitz, Romania, son of the late Chaim and Charlotte (Lieber) Goldschmidt. In 1958, he married the late Dr. Pauline Zildman.
Surviving are two daughters: Yael Dopke in Germany and Iris Goldschmidt of Potomac, Md.; four grandchildren: Tamar, Daniel, Sarah and Leah; a daughter-in-law, Marta Hopkinson; and a son-in-law Karl-Heinz of Mainz, Germany.
Zvi was a devoted physician at the Altoona Hospital for 20 years and took care of many patients in the Altoona area. He enjoyed a long retirement thereafter.
He was a loving father and grandfather. He had great friendships that he cherished, and he positively impacted many people in the community.
A graveside memorial service will be held at noon on Sunday, Oct. 14, 2018, at Alto-Reste Park Cemetery, Altoona, Cantor Ben Matis officiating. Arrangements are by E. Merrill Smith Funeral Home Inc., 2309 Broad Ave., Altoona.
