Raymond A. Boslett

Raymond A. Boslett, 81, Hollidaysburg, formerly of Red Hill, Altoona, died Tuesday at the Hollidays­burg Veterans Home, after an extended illness.

He was born in Spangler, son of the late Raymond M. and Agatha (Dunlap) Boslett. On June 20, 1959, he married Alice Ference at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Bakerton.

Surviving are his wife; five children: Kathy L. (Tim) Capriani of Fredericksburg, Va., Anthony A. Boslett (friend, Hannah Ly) of Chantilly, Va., Cynthia A. Young of Hollidaysburg, Mary A. (Keith) Quarry of Elizabethtown and James E. Boslett of Washington, D.C.; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Brittney Sias; a son-in-law, David Young; and two brothers: Robert Boslett and Paul J. Boslett.

Raymond attended John Carroll High School. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps and attained the rank of corporal during the Korean War. He received the National Defense Service Medal and the Good Conduct Medal.

In 1993, he retired as an electrician for International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, Local 5 after 23 years of service.

He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, Hollidaysburg; Knights of Columbus, 4th Degree, Past Grand Knight; Heidelberg Country Club; a life member of the Bavarian Aid Society; St. Stanislaus Kostka Brotherhood; and the Newburg Volunteer Fire Company.

Raymond enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, the beach, playing cards and going to casinos.

There will be no public visitation. Family and friends are invited to attend a funeral Mass that will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Mon­day, Aug. 6, 2018, at St. Mary Catholic Church, Hollidays­burg, Father Anthony Legarski and Father Donald Boslett celebrant. Committal rites will be held at Calvary Ceme­tery, Altoona. Arrangements are by Jones Funeral Home, Altoona.
