Seminar to discuss fire, EMS struggles

Presentation will review report by Senate panel

HARRISBURG — State Sen. Judy Ward, R-Blair, and state Rep. Rich Irvin, R-Huntingdon, will host an informational discussion on the Senate Resolution 6 Commission’s Final Report offering recommendations to stabilize and strengthen Pennsylvania’s struggling fire and EMS services.

The seminar will be held from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Marklesburg Volunteer Fire Company, 15205 Raystown Road, James Creek.

In 2017, Senate Resolution 6 established a special bipartisan, bicameral legislative commission to recommend improvements to the delivery of emergency services in the commonwealth and develop legislation. The seminar will provide information on those recommendations to local fire companies, EMS and municipal officials and also to receive feedback on what recommendations would be most beneficial.

Attendees will hear from Pennsylvania State Fire Commissioner Bruce Trego, Pennsylvania EMA Director Randy Padfield, the Pennsylvania House Veterans and Emergency Preparedness Committee and David Jones of Southern Alleghenies EMS and Penn State University. There will be an opportunity for Q&A, open discussion, comments and suggestions. The event is for emergency responders and municipal officials only.

For more information, call Irvin’s district office at 814- 644-2996.
