Blair County Planning Commission members on Thursday gave a positive review to two proposed amendments to the Hollidaysburg Borough zoning map.
The one change proposes four properties be rezoned from the Residential Business District to the Highway Commercial District.
While the proposed rezoning of properties between South Juniata Street and Wayne and Union streets will result in fragmented zoning along the Blair Street and South Juniata Street corridor, the commission appreciates Hollidaysburg Borough's willingness to possibly move forward with a comprehensive review of the official zoning map in the future, which would likely address the fragmented zoning in this area, said Jamie L. Klink, community planner.
Klink said the proposed amendment to the zoning map is generally consistent with countywide planning efforts.
The other proposed change would see a single tax parcel be rezoned from General Residential District to the Community Business District.
Currently, the historic Towne Square Livery Stable is located on this parcel, which is being used as guest parking for the adjacent Mimosa Courtyard Inn Bed & Breakfast, Klink said.
"The proposed rezoning of this property will better suit the existing land use, allowing the property owners to expand the use of the former stable building, while not damaging the historic character of the neighborhood," Klink said.
"We would recommend rezoning the adjacent property containing the bed and breakfast establishment, as well since that would also better match the permitted uses within the Community Business District, however, this could possibly be addressed during a future comprehensive review of the official zoning map," Klink said.
