A burn ban is in effect for Antis Township.
Antis Township supervisors voted to implement the ban Thursday night and said despite any rain, the ban will remain in effect until it is lifted by the township.
"We have an awful lot of dry conditions," said Board of Supervisors Chairman Robert Smith before he asked representatives from the Bellwood and Pinecroft fire companies for their input about the proposed ban.
Fire company representatives agreed the ban was a good idea for the conditions and for the time of year.
Smith reminded residents that a lot of brush fires start because of people burning yard waste and that practice is not allowed in the township regardless of a burn ban because the township offers composting services for residents.
