An Altoona man faces multiple charges for allegedly kidnapping a man and holding him against his will at gunpoint.
Meanwhile his brother, described by police as armed and dangerous, remains at large.
Altoona police arrested Darwin "Dub" Maurice Herring Sr., 34, of 2410 Maple Ave., on Saturday on charges of conspiracy, robbery, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, kidnapping, burglary, criminal trespass, reckless endangerment and terroristic threats among other charges.
According to the police department's Facebook page, Darwin Herring and his 36-year-old brother, Dante, met with a male victim at an unlicensed after hours nightclub called The Shake at 922 Seven Ave. on Dec. 28.
Herring and his brother allegedly threatened the victim with a gun, bound his hands and feet together with zip ties and duct taped his mouth shut. The Herrings allegedly stole the victim's house keys, cellphone, debit cards and $500 from off his person. Dante Herring allegedly took the house key and drove to the victim's residence to steal an additional $2,000 worth of property while Darwin Herring stayed behind with the victim.
After nearly two hours bound, the Herrings released the victim. Two felony arrest warrants were issued for both Herrings after the investigation.
On Saturday, police conducted surveillance and arrested Darwin Herring during a vehicle stop at 29th Street and Oak Avenue. After Darwin Herring's arrest, police searched for Dante Herring at The Shake after-hours club. During the search, police found a Kel Tec PLR-16 gas-operated, semi-automatic pistol chambered for 5.56 mm NATO cartridges along with a loaded 30-round magazine and a round in the chamber.
Darwin Herring is currently being held at the Blair County Prison in lieu of $150,000 cash bail.
Dante "Mad Ball" Herring is still at large. The Altoona Police Department Facebook page describes him as armed and dangerous. Anyone with information regarding his location is asked to contact 911 or the Altoona Police Department.
