EBENSBURG -- The Central Cambria School District has decided to keep acting superintendent Jason Moore in his currect role until the end of the academic year.
Moore, who previously served as the district's curriculum director, was named acting superintendent in October.
School Board President Dennis Simmers said that Moore will remain as acting superintendent until the end of the 2017-18 school year.
"We determined it was best to keep (Moore) as acting superintendent until the end of the academic year," Simmers said. "He has made this a seamless transition thus far."
Moore is also a member of the Greater Johnstown School Board. He did not comment on whether or not he will maintain his position with the Johnstown board.
In September, former Superintendent Vincent DiLeo retired from the district. DiLeo had been on temporary leave from his position due to personal reasons.
Because Moore was appointed acting superintendent, the district lacked a curriculum director. So, on Monday, the school board also made several administrative changes.
Dr. Tricia Murin, who has been the high school principal since July 1, was appointed acting curriculum director.
"The curriculum director is arguably one of the most important positions in the district," Simmers said. "It was important that we fill that position."
Murin's new role will be effective as of Jan. 12.
"I'm very excited for this new position," Murin said. "It's been my pleasure to be the high school principal for the past six months, but I'm excited to serve the district in this new capacity."
Assistant High School Principal Andrew Paronish was appointed acting high school principal to replace Murin. Both Murin and Paronish will be compensated an additional $50 per day.
A replacement for the assistant high school principal position was not announced, but Moore said a replacement should be found "fairly soon."
Moore said the assistant high school principal position will "most likely" be filled internally.
"We have a handful of candidates from within the district that are qualified for the position," Moore said. "It will probably be filled internally."
Simmers said that personnel matters were discussed during an executive session held last week.
He would not say if the administrative changes were discussed during that session. But he did say the decision to make the moves was "not sudden."
"This has been in the works for the past few months," Simmers said.
