Veterans honored

HOLLIDAYSBURG — Command Sgt. Major Harry Zeznanski of Bedford County was the guest speaker during a Veterans Day service held Thursday in front of the Blair County Courthouse.

The event, organized by the county veterans affairs office, prepared recognition certificates for 12 veterans from the Hollidaysburg Veterans Home, including four who attended the ceremony.

Patrick Young, director of the county’s veterans affairs office, presided over the event with assistance from Blair County Commissioner Ted Beam Jr.

Other participants included the Blair County Honor Guard, the Rev. Richard Morris, 1st Sgt. Robert Baranik of the Pennsylvania National Guard, who played taps, vocalist Emily Kirk, who sang the national anthem and Robert Young who played “Amazing Grace” on bagpipes.
