Local DirecTV customers will get to see the Big Ten Championship game after all.
The Penn State vs. Wisconsin game is to be carried on WWCP Fox 8, but for more than a week, a scroll had been running across Fox 8 programs saying that DirecTV would no longer be carrying that station effective Thursday.
However, an agreement between DirecTV and Fox was reached late Wednesday night so local DirecTV customers will get the Big Ten championship game as well as the Pittsburgh Steelers vs. New York Giants game on Sunday.
"We are very pleased that an agreement was reached to ensure that DirecTV subscribers in our area will be able to watch Penn State play for the Big Ten Football Championship Saturday night on Fox 8. This is great news for fans of Penn State and college football," said Penn State spokesman Jeff Nelson, who was notified late Wednesday night by WWCP General Manager Frank Quitoni that an agreement had been reached.
Quitoni did not respond to voice mail and email messages seeking comment.
