JOHNSTOWN -- Highlands Health-Johnstown Free Medical Clinic announced plans for this year's annual benefit event, to be held on Aug. 26 at Peoples Natural Gas Park in Johnstown.
According to Jack Babich, president of the board of Employers Medi-cal Access Partnership (e.map) and one of the presenting sponsors for this year's event, "We are expanding this year's event to include fashion, dance and music. It is our hope to launch the modeling career of at least one young man and woman, as well as give young dancers an opportunity to be coached by a national choreographer."
Ty Hunter, Beyonce's stylist, will host the event, along with Derae Mora, a New York supermodel who has local ties.
The prospective models and dancers must register at www.highlandshealthclinic.com by midnight June 10. There is a $25 registration fee.
Models will try out on June 16 and be fitted for clothing provided by several New York fashion designers. The dancers will participate in a daylong workshop June 17 conducted by of Anthony Rodriquez, a national choreographer for stars such as Madonna, Prince and Jennifer Lopez.
On Aug. 26, A.J. Crim-son, founder of AJ Crim-son Beauty and a makeup artist for national celebrities, along with his team, will apply his cosmetics on the models and dancers, and XEX Magazine, a New York City fashion and cultural publication (also a presenting sponsor of this year's Highlands Health benefit event) will assist Ty Hunter and Derae Mora in the selection of two models to receive an all-expense-paid trip to NYC during fashion week, where they will be photographed and featured.
This is an exceptional opportunity for anyone who wants to get a taste for modeling and dancing on a competitive national level.
Entertainment for the event will be announced at a later date.
