Strawberry festival

A strawberry festival will be held from 4-6:30 p.m. June 11 at the Cresson Presbyterian Church, corner of Third Street and Keystone Avenue. Cost is $6 for adults and $4 for children under 10 years of age. A basket auction will also be held.

Film club

Meta Narrative, a film club discovering the underlying themes of life in favorite films, hosted by Christ Reformed Church, will be held at 7 p.m. each Thursday June 15-Aug. 3.

Participants will meet at the Alexandria Memorial Library, 313 Main St., Alexandria. The group will discuss life through the lens of Harry Potter.

Blessed Assurance will present a concert at 6 p.m. Sunday at First Grace Brethren Church, 2934 Maple Ave., Altoona.

Bible school

Hollidaysburg Christian & Missionary Alliance Church, 183 Jefferson St., will hold vacation Bible school from 6-8:30 p.m. June 19-23. “The Great Treasure Hunt” is geared to children 4 years old through sixth grade. Each evening includes story time, music, games, snacks and crafts. There will also be presentations by Jo Kiehl, missionary to Brazil for 25 years. Maker FunFactory vacation Bible school will be held daily from 9 a.m. to noon June 19-23 at St. John the Evangelist, Lakemont.

The cost for children of parishioners is $30. For families with three or more children, the cost is $80. The cost for children of non-parishioners is $35. Checks should be made payable to St. John Parish. The registration fee covers the cost of materials, supplies, a T-shirt for each participant, a CD for each family, daily snacks and crafts. Deadline for registration is June 5.
