Velma J. Singer, 98, of Altoona, passed away peacefully early Friday morning at UPMC Altoona. Born in Altoona, she married William L. Singer on Nov. 5, 1943, at Grace United Methodist Church, Altoona. He preceded her in death on Feb. 20, 2014, after 70 years of marriage.

She is survived by her loving children: son, William D. Singer, and daughter, Barbara Rossman, both of Altoona; three grandsons: Todd Rossman (Jami), Jason Davidson (Tricia) and William R. Singer; two great-grandsons, Troy and Owen; and a great-granddaughter, Jesi.

Velma was preceded in death by her granddaughter, Nickole Rossman; daughter-in-law, Dawn Singer; and son-in-law, Edward Rossman.

A devoted homemaker, Velma excelled at creating a loving home for her family. She was a talented seamstress, making clothing and drapes not only for her own use, but also for others. She enjoyed roller skating with friends, traveling with her husband and most of all, cherished spending time with her family.

She was a member of Altoona Bible Church, Altoona.

In accordance with her wishes, there will be no viewing or services. Interment will be held at Alto-Reste Park, Altoona.
