Patrick C. Miller

Feb. 17, 1951 – March 24, 2025

Miller

Patrick C. Miller, 74, Altoona, passed away Monday at UPMC Altoona after an extended illness. He was born in Spangler, the son of the late Elmer and Florence O. (Burley) Miller.

Patrick married Cathy L. Fornwalt on July 19, 1982.

He is survived by his loving wife of 42 years; his daughter, Jennifer L. Miller of Mechanicsburg; his brother-in-law, Gregory Fornwalt; his sister-in-law, Julie Fornwalt; and his large, loving extended family.

Patrick was preceded in death by his brother, Charles J. Miller.

He was a 1970 graduate of Altoona Area High School and retired with more than 30 years of service with the Altoona City Authority as a supervisor.

Patrick was a man of few words, preferring the authenticity and connection of a one-on-one conversation to a raucous crowd.

Although he wasn’t one for grandiose shows of affection, he loved his family with a quiet ferocity that was easily felt.

Pat’s life was enriched with the simple pleasures that life had to offer: a relaxing day on a quiet beach, a good burger and homemade fries and a nice evening on the porch with a can of Pepsi, his beloved wife, Kate, and his best friend, Max.

Although Patrick will be greatly missed, he will be remembered fondly in every beach sunset and every time we crack open a cold can of Pepsi.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday, March 27, 2025, at The Cathedral of the Blessed Sacrament, with celebrant and nephew, Father Athanasius Fornwalt and concelebrant, Monsignor Stanley Carson.

Arrangements are by The Stevens Mortuary Inc., 1421 Eighth Ave., Altoona.

The family kindly asks that contributions be made in Patrick’s memory to St. Mary of Redford Parish, 14601 Mansfield St., Detroit, MI 48227; or The Cathedral of the Blessed Sacrament, 1 Cathedral Square, Altoona, PA 16601.
