Lady Lions score early, often in big softball victory at home

Altoona scored five runs in each of the second and fourth innings to rout Juniata, 12-1, in five innings in high school softball action on Wednesday at Logan Elementary Field.

Charli Schneider fired a two-hitter with four strikeouts and no walks for the Lady Lions, now 3-5.

Kaya Sprankle drove in three runs on a triple, Natalie Baker had two hits and two RBIs, Jayda Yost had two hits, and Lilly Snyder drove in two runs on a double.

Juniata, down 5-0 after two innings, fell to 2-7.

Paris paces C-K

NEW PARIS — Winning pitcher Isabella Paris delivered a two-run home run and a two-run single to propel unbeaten Claysburg-Kimmel past Chestnut Ridge, 13-3, in five innings.

The Lady Bulldogs are 9-0. Ridge fell to 4-4.

Harlee Harclerode and Payton Hinish — who homered — each drove in two runs for the Lady Bulldogs, and Paris, Savanna Crissman, McKenna Black, Jaylee Swindell and Launa Musselman each had two hits.

BG gets second win

JOHNSTOWN — Emma Marasco and Leah Byrne spearheaded Bishop Guilfoyle past Johnstown, 7-3, to improve its record to 2-6. The Lady Trojans are 0-11.

Marasco collected three hits, two RBIs and three stolen bases from the leadoff spot, and Byrne had two hits, two RBIs and four stolen bases while also tossing a four-hitter with no walks to earn the win.

Brooke Swasing added a hit, RBI and stolen base.

FLINTON — Rosie McClellan fired a three-hitter with nine strikeouts as Glendale defeated Bishop Carroll, 11-0, in five innings.

Elizabeth Kaufman collected three hits and two RBIs for the Lady Vikings (2-5), and Leah Boslet doubled in two runs. Carroll fell to 1-9.
