BEDFORD — Emma Byers threw a complete-game shutout for top-seeded Bedford in a 3-0 victory over Cambria Heights in the District 6 Class 3A softball quarterfinals on Monday. Byers struck out 12 batters and had a two-run single. Cambria Heights pitcher Rylee Lane, who allowed just four hits, struck out three as the Lady Highlanders finished 11-10. WINDBER — The Central Cambria Red Devils made too many mistakes in the field against the top-seeded Richland Rams, falling 10-4 in the District 6 Class 3A quarterfinals at Windber Sports Complex on Monday. Hornets survive over Homer-Center

ALEXANDRIA — Juniata Valley built a six-run lead Monday against Homer-Center only to see it evaporate into a 9-9 tie before an error allowed the Lady Hornets to pull in front again, 10-9, in the bottom of the sixth.
