Seventh-inning heroics spark Claysburg baseball

ORBISONIA — Claysburg-Kimmel scored four runs in the top of the seventh on Saturday to record an 8-7 come-from-behind win over Southern Huntingdon in high school baseball action.

Gavin Treon had three hits and two RBIs for the Bulldogs (2-0), who also got two hits and two RBIs from Dustin Slowik. Teammate Ayden Soler chipped in with two hits and two runs scored in a game C-K trailed, 7-4, after six innings.

Logan Tremmel got the win in relief. He struck out two batters in 1• innings. Mason Campagna struck out two in the seventh for a save.

Lions out in quarters

NORTH HUNTINGDON– The Altoona boys volleyball team competed in the Norwin Tournament on Saturday where the Mountain Lions made it to the quarterfinals of the Silver Bracket before losing to Thomas Jefferson, 25-23.

Altoona opened pool play with losses to Franklin Regional (15-10, 19-17) and Obama Academy (16-14, 15-9).

In the second pool, Altoona split with Hopewell (25-23, 23-25) and got swept by Sacred Heart (25-21, 25-19).

Caleb Terza led Altoona with 16 assists, 14 kills, 11 digs and 10 service points to go with 25 digs from Logan Coldwell, 17 blocks from Ayden Shuma, 17 digs and 13 service points from Parker Huey-Kish.

The Mountain Lions also got 14 digs from Carter Keagy, 20 assists, 15 blocks and 14 service points from Max Coon and 13 blocks from Blaine Lanzendorfer.
