Area wrestling programs making adjustments

Like it has for so many other activities, the COVID-19 pandemic has changed the ground rules for events for high school wrestling teams in the Mirror coverage area this winter. With schools mandated by the state government not to begin or resume athletic practices until last Monday, and a 10-practice minimum required before any team could engage in competition, all winter sports seasons are starting much later this year. Tyrone forced to change slate

Tyrone athletic director Luke Rhoades confirmed Thursday that boys and girls basketball games Friday and Saturday, along with a wrestling match on Tuesday, have been postponed. Rhoades received an email from Clearfield at 2:30 p.m. that all athletic events at the school were being shut down. The Tyrone girls will now play at District 10’s Villa Maria on Saturday at 2:30 p.m. The school is still planning to host Central in boys basketball Monday night and in girls basketball on Tuesday evening.
