MILL HALL — Altoona found itself in a big hole it couldn’t get out of and lost by a point to Mifflin County, 34-33, in the semifinals of the District 6 Class 3A Duals on Saturday at Central Mountain High School. The Mountain Lions lost seven of the first eight bouts, including two by forfeit, to trail the Huskies, 34-3. Mifflin County then chose to forfeit to forfeit the final five bouts to apparently conserve energy and health of its upperweights. WINGATE — The Central wrestling team earned four pins, and led in the early going against Juniata, before dropping the next four bouts to suffer a 35-33 loss in District 6 Class 2A team dual action Tuesday night at Bald Eagle Area High School. McMonagle adds to resume

BEDFORD — Andrew McMonagle reached the PIAA Class 2A state wrestling tournament last March but suffered a setback there. McMonagle tore three ligaments in his knee in the first round of the 160-pound competition and was forced to injury default out of the competition. MORRISDALE — The tiebreaker round, a gut check for wrestlers who remain tied with their opponent after regulation and a 1 minute overtime period, was the theme in the finals of the Ultimate Warrior on Saturday night at West Branch.
